Despite the pinched nostril issue, I am happy with the progress over the past week. Eliana does not seem to have any pain and we have stopped giving her even plain Tylenol (we used the Tylenol with codeine at night the first few nights). At this point, the swelling is WAY down but not completely gone, she still has sutures visible in her lip and nose (they will be absorbed), dermabond glue spread over her lip and around the bottom of her nostrils, and steri-strips in place on her lip. There is a little bruising still visible at the base of her nostrils. After a week of cup feeding, the steri-strips are quite stained and yucky looking, despite washing them with soap and water in the tub and using a cotton ball dipped in peroxide. The adhesive is also a schmutz magnet.

EDIT: It will be at least 2 more weeks before the swelling is completely gone and we will have a better idea of the results of the surgery (aesthetically speaking). What has surprised me the most is the differences we are hearing in her speech already. I was expecting this more with the palate surgery in May and was a little disappointed when we didn't hear much difference. I wasn't expecting much change in her speech with this surgery, but the change has been significant. She sounds quite nasally right now, but that may be due to some of the swelling in her nose, which isn't as visible now, but is still there. She sounds a little like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer when he puts on his false nose. :o) But, we are definitely hearing more definite consonants, which I don't think can be attributed to the swelling. I have not seen her upper lip move much yet, but the tape is still on there and she will need some help from her speech therapist to learn how to use and control those newly attached muscles. Exciting developments!

Happy, clean girl! You can see sort of a line on her right nostril where it is pinching in from the scab.
Views from below to see height of nose & lengthening of the columella. She had a severe case of the giggles after morning bath - I guess the swabbing didn't traumatize her for long!

We named the kitty "Yo Yo Mao". Mao is Chinese for cat.
Monday/Tuesday early morning, immediately post-op: 
The metal "Logan's Bow' is to protect my lip from being bumped.
I have tiny straws wrapped in gauze in each nostril to maintain my airways.
My upper lip got really, really big, then it turned purple. This was not the biggest.
